WATER POLLUTION BIOLOGY : Section 01
Spring Semester 2005
CATALOG: BIO 422/522. Water Pollution Biology; Credit: 4
cr. Hrs. Causes, effects and treatment of water-borne
pollutants; chemistry and biology of water pollution; water
microbiology and evaluation techniques; ecotoxicology
methods; laboratory methods in water pollution monitoring
and control. Lecture 2 hours, laboratory 4 hours.
Prerequisites: BIO 301; Offered: Irregular.

TOPICS: This is primarily an introductory course
designed to teach you basic concepts in water pollution
science (see schedule for details). Two classes each
week, usually Tuesdays and Thursdays, will be spent in
lecture in the lab in Ca 227. The other class period,
usually Thursday afternoons, will include labs in Ca
227.
PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES: This course introduces the
biology major to the concepts of the basic concepts of
water pollution and the various effects on the biota.

10:50AM-12:05PM; Tuesdays in Ca 227, 1:40-4:20PM
