REQUIREMENTS:

YOU MUST ATTEND ALL CLASSES, unless dire circumstances keep you from doing so.

LAB REPORTS: Unless otherwise noted, lab reports are due
one week after completion of the lab. A few will be due one week after they are finished (climate, plant competition). You cannot turn in a report if you didn’t attend the lab. You must turn in lab reports ON TIME. See Word document handouts on lab reports (writing, example & grading).

RESEARCH PAPER: You will be required to write and submit a 8+ page double-spaced,
12-13 pt font (Times or Times New Roman – no other font unless approved first) literature review on an ecological topic which must be approved by Dr. Faulkner. The paper WILL ALSO include a title page, an abstract page, and a bibliography section. These pages are NOT part of the require 8 pages of text. Plagiarism is NOT tolerated. This paper is due on the Tuesday of DEAD WEEK. If you are a graduating senior, this paper is due the Thursday of the week BEFORE DEAD WEEK. The paper MUST follow the CBE style guidelines or Ecology. NO other style will be graded. The due deadlines are absolute. See Word document handouts on writing research papers (writing, sample, grading).

SUCCESSFUL
work on all tests.

TO RECEIVE AN A or B, you must successfully meet the
academic requirements for the course, and have an excellent attendance record. You must be an active participant in the course! Don’t see me after final grades have been entered, and say, “I deserved an A or B in this course,” when all you did was technically attain an A or B. I expect you to be an active student!

THE BIOLOG – There is a BLOG for this class (& for dendrology & field botany as well) at:
http://spaces.msn.com/members/biologmarshdoc/

Visit it about 2 X per week. You’ll find comments, observations, schedules, etc. You can post your own comments here (I encourage you to do so).
