GRADING:
Grades will be
based on attendance, class participation, examinations,
weekly quizzes, lab practicals, plant collection, herbarium
practices and a 2-partfinal examination that is in part
based upon your keying skills, and in part, on your general
knowledge.
GRADING SCALE: 10-point scale based on cumulative points
earned on all requirements.
ATTENDANCE:
Roll will be taken
for DSU attendance records. Class attendance and
participation are expected. These criteria will be used
when determining final grades. Evidence of active
participation in the blog will also be considered. Class
begins PROMPTLY
at the scheduled
class time. Tardiness is NOT TOLERATED. Students are
expected to be in class on time
and must have their
cell telephones and beepers turned to the off or vibrator
position. Once class begins, you may not leave class
unless you have an emergency. If a cell phone goes off in
class, you’ll be asked to LEAVE.
EXAMINATIONS:
Make-up
examinations and quizzes will NOT be given unless
arrangements are made prior to exam day and the absence is
officially excused. Make-up for all field plant
identification examinations will NOT be given. Labs
can not be made up. A student who misses the final
examinations will receive an F in the course. Exams
must be made up within one week (7 days) of the original
exam date. Exams cannot be made up without a
physician’s or university written
excuse (example:
athletic function or band function). If a make-up is
justified the format will be at the discretions of the
instructor. A student who misses two or more scheduled exams will
not be allowed to take the make up and will receive a grade
of F or FA in the course.
ACADEMIC
CODE: Any
student caught cheating or plagiarizing an assignment or
examination will receive a “O” (zero) on that
work and will be dismissed
from the class. The
action to be taken against the student will be determined
after consultation with the department head and other
appropriate individuals.
INCOMPLETES: Not available for this semester.
